Your data, your call

There is no honest way to build this product without addressing the obvious thing.

An assistant that helps with your job needs to know about your job. An assistant that helps with your life needs to know about your life — your family, your money, where you are, who is waiting on you. That is a meaningfully bigger ask, and pretending otherwise would be the wrong way to start.

So rather than bury it, here is the whole position.

What it knows

Two sources, and only two:

1. What you tell it. Directly, or in passing, in the course of talking to it.
2. The apps you connect. Calendar, mail, whatever you choose. Each one is a separate decision, each one is reversible, and none of them is required.

That is the list. There is no third category where we quietly acquire things about you from somewhere else.

What never happens

These are commitments, not current settings that might drift:

• It is never sold. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not as an "anonymised" aggregate.
• It is never used to train a model. Not ours, not a provider's. Your Tuesday is not training data.
• There is no ad business. We take money from people who pay for the product. That is the entire model, and it is deliberate — an assistant funded by advertising has an interest in your attention that competes with its interest in your life.
• Connected apps are read for the job at hand. Looking up a flight is looking up a flight. It is not an opportunity to index your inbox.

We are aware that anyone can write a list like this. The check on it is the one below.

You can see and delete all of it

Everything bliq knows is a list in the app. Not a summary — the actual memory. Every line says where it came from, and every line has a delete control.

You can remove one fact, disconnect one app, or delete the whole account. Deletion means deletion: gone from the memory, gone from our systems on the schedule set out in the privacy policy, not merely hidden from the screen.

An assistant you cannot audit is an assistant you are trusting on vibes.

Being able to look is what makes the rest of this checkable rather than a promise.

Actions have their own line

Knowing is one thing. Doing is another, and it has a separate rule that we wrote about in From advice to action: anything that spends your money or speaks to another person in your name asks you first, every time, with the details in front of you.

Reading and checking are free. Committing is never automatic.

Where we would rather be wrong

Some of these decisions cost us something.

Not training on your data means we improve more slowly than we otherwise would. Not selling ads means the product has a price. Asking before every booking means bliq is occasionally less magical than a version that just went ahead.

We think those are the right trades for something that lives this close to you. If we ever change our minds about any of it, you will hear it from us in plain language before it happens, not in a diff to a policy document.

The short version: it is your life, and it stays your call.
